A mini tummy tuck is a cosmetic procedure used to remove excess skin and fat around the lower region of the stomach.

While a full tummy tuck is a more complete procedure, a mini tummy tuck allows smaller improvements below the stomach contour.

The benefits of mini-abdominoplasty:

There are many benefits associated with a mini tummy tuck:

  • First, it is a much less invasive procedure than a traditional tummy tuck, a much shorter recovery period for the patient.
  • Fewer scars than with a traditional tummy tuck.
  • No repositioning of your navel.
  • The procedure is available to a wider group of people, including patients who are not suitable candidates for a complete tummy tuck because of previous procedure scarring.
  • More economical than a complete tummy tuck.

Before the surgery :

What you should know about tummy tuck for men

During your initial consultation, the surgeon will ask you for a complete medical history, including the medications you are taking and the health problems you may have. He gives you recommendations to follow before surgery to reduce the risk of complications and optimize the healing process.

If you smoke, it is important that you stop a few weeks before and after surgery to minimize the risk. During your consultation, it is important to talk to your doctor about your goals and the results you expect.

Your doctor offers a customized solution to meet your specific needs. Any questions you have about the procedure are also discussed at your first consultation.

Anesthesia:

General

How is the surgery done?

The intervention is done under general anesthesia.
The surgeon begins with an incision along the trunk line of the lower abdominal line.
This incision is horizontal and smaller compared to the incision made for a complete abdominoplasty and is only a few inches long.

Once the incision is made, your surgeon removes excess skin, tightens the underlying tissue and can also use liposuction to remove excess fat. Once the desired results are achieved, the incision is closed and covered with bandages.
In some cases, thin drainage tubes can be placed to drain excess fluid into the area.

After the surgery:

Once the surgery is over, you stay in observation for a short period of time before being released. It is necessary to have the help of your loved ones because you cannot perform basic tasks such as driving, bending and stretching until full recovery.

If the incision is maintained with sutures, they are removed one to two weeks after surgery.

Intense activity should be avoided for at least 2 months after surgery. You are advised to take a week or at least three to four days off to give your body time to recover. Specific maintenance instructions are provided by your doctor. Follow them to optimize the healing process. Follow-up appointments are scheduled to check your recovery progress.

It is important to note that those who have had previous bariatric surgery are often not advised to undergo a mini-facelift because it does not provide the necessary drastic overhaul after extreme weight loss.
