How does the genioplasty procedure work ?
Chin surgery types :
Sliding genioplasty
In a sliding genioplasty, a surgeon uses a saw to cut the chin bone from the rest of the jaw and advance its position to correct chin removal. This is also called a bone genioplasty.

After the operation
You may feel numbness in your chin for up to 3 months, and a sensation of stretching around the chin for 1 week. The swelling disappears in 6 weeks, depending on the type of procedure.
It will be necessary to follow a diet based on liquids for at least a day or two.
Dressings will be removed within one week of surgery. You may be asked to wear a splint while sleeping for a period of 4 to 6 weeks.
You can resume a light activity on the day of the surgery. You will be able to return to work and your usual activities within 7 to 10 days.
