How is the surgery done ?
Chin surgery procedure
Genioplasty patients receive general anesthesia to keep them comfortable throughout the surgery.
The incisions are all done in the mouth, which means they are made inside the mouth.
By sawing, the chin is cut to obtain the desired appearance. The height or width can be reduced to advance or push back the chin.
To keep the new contour in place, the bone parts are usually attached using screws and mini titanium plates. The surgical wound is then closed with absorbable sutures.
After the surgery:
After the procedure, your surgeon prescribes oral antibiotics for two days. The oral stitches are absorbable, so you will not have to go back to the hospital to have them removed.
You can start eating normally as soon as you feel ready. A liquid or soft diet is recommended. You should rinse your mouth with water or an oral antiseptic rinse after each meal.
After three to five days, you can remove your bandages and compresses and resume your daily routine. Do not exercise for the first 10 days after surgery. Do not practice sports for six to eight weeks.
You may notice swelling, redness or bruising, which should disappear after a few days
